Studying electrical & electronic engineering abroad – and the lessons beyond the classroom
“Hi everyone, I'm Huy, currently studying Electronic and Electrical Engineering at the University of Sunderland. If you ask me how I feel about studying abroad, well—there’s a lot to say. One thing for sure: the UK is absolutely a worthy destination for education. At least for my major, getting to work with advanced machinery and technology is incredibly valuable.
But to me, the lessons I’ve learned outside the classroom matter just as much—if not more. Changing environments hasn’t just exposed me to different cultures and international friendships, but it’s made me realize how undisciplined and dependent on my parents I had been.
This experience is a mix of tough and soft—it allows us to enjoy new things, to finally see with our own eyes the scenery we’d only seen on TV before, and to encounter cultures completely different from our own.
At the same time, it pushes us to grow up, to take full responsibility for our lives.
To be honest, it hasn’t been as perfect as I once imagined it would be—but even now, I still believe this journey has been 100% worth it.”
